Real-Time Threat Intelligence & Network Analytics

IP Reputation with offensive clarity.

The ThreatPoint IP Reputation API delivers sub-second risk classification for public IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. Intercept Tor exit relays, residential proxy farms, malicious credential bots, and commercial VPNs before application compromise.

Multi-vector threat evaluation & Redis acceleration

ThreatPoint combines localized threat databases, datacenter CIDRs, real-time external network enrichment, and cached WHOIS registries to compute granular risk profiles in milliseconds.

Engine Pipeline // Internal Flow

Real-Time Threat Aggregation Pipeline

Every incoming IP address is processed through sequential security layers. Private network addresses (RFC 1918) are flagged instantly as local, while public routable addresses are enriched with low-latency Redis caching.

1. AUTH & RATE AUDIT: License validation & volume threshold check
2. REDIS GEO CACHE: 24-hour TTL on ISP & Geolocation results
3. ADVERSARY CORRELATION: Tor exit, datacenter, paid/free VPN & Bot databases
4. DEEP ASN / WHOIS: 7-day TTL caching with Regional Registrar verification
Core Capabilities

Sub-Millisecond Edge Evaluation

Designed for frictionless inline defense inside WooCommerce, payment gateway webhooks, and zero-trust login boundaries.

  • ✔ Tor & Darknet Exit Node detection
  • ✔ Residential Proxy masking identifiers
  • ✔ Datacenter / VPS hosting boundary alerts
  • ✔ Full audit logging per verified request
API License & Usage

Authentication & Volume-Based Pricing

Queries to the ThreatPoint API require a valid license key and are billed per evaluated IP on a volume tier.

Request Header

Header Authentication

Pass your customer license key in the X-Api-Key HTTP header with every request.

X-Api-Key: tp_live_3909782b32c8444191ae...
Quota Enforcement

Volume-Based Allocation

Each evaluated IP lookup increments your volume counter (cnt). If your volume limit (lmt) is reached, the API triggers an HTTP 429 response.

HTTP 429: Rate Limit Exceeded
Audit & Compliance

Continuous Audit Trails

Every lookup transaction records timestamped client metadata into ThreatPoint's immutable audit logging table for forensic compliance.

REST Interface

Endpoint & Query Parameters

Single RESTful GET resource accepting IPv4/IPv6 values and optional deep-inspection flags.

GET https://api.threatpoint.co.uk/api/v1/resources/ip

Evaluates the target IP address against ThreatPoint's threat databases, datacenter CIDRs, proxy registers, and external network telemetry.

Parameter Type Status Default Description
ipaddress String REQUIRED — Target IPv4 or IPv6 address. Formats are strictly validated; invalid values return HTTP 400.
iptoname String OPTIONAL "n" Pass "y" to conduct reverse PTR hostname resolution and forward verification to spot mismatched DNS records.
ipwhois String OPTIONAL "n" Pass "y" to query deep autonomous system (ASN) metadata, registrar alignment, and country routing conflicts.
Threat Taxonomy

Threat Reason Codes & Telemetry

ThreatPoint produces granular reason_codes that explain exactly why an address was flagged.

Threat Indicators

Accumulated Risk Reason Codes

The API accumulates all detected risk vectors into a deduplicated array (reason_codes), preventing overwrite collisions and computing the final dynamic risk_score:

Reason Code Risk Level Trigger Condition Action Recommendation
TOR_EXIT CRITICAL IP confirmed as an active Tor network exit node. Block registrations & payment checkouts; prompt biometric MFA.
PROXY_IFACE HIGH Known public, open, or anonymous proxy server gateway. Block automated form submissions.
RESIDENTIAL_PROXY HIGH Residential ISP endpoint repurposed via mobile gateway for stealth evasion. Challenge with behavioral CAPTCHA or block checkout.
VPN_DETECTED_PAID MEDIUM Commercial/paid VPN infrastructure (e.g., Tefincom, Clouvider, Packethub). Evaluate against risk tolerance for anonymous shoppers.
VPN_DETECTED_FREE MEDIUM Free public VPN or shared tunneling provider. Flag for fraud screening on high-value orders.
DATACENTRE_IP MEDIUM Originates within a hosting datacenter / VPS subnet rather than a consumer ISP. Restrict from customer login forms.
NON_HUMAN_TRAFFIC CRITICAL Associated with known malicious scrapers and brute-force botnets. Drop connection at edge.
BOT / CRAWLER HIGH Malicious email scraper, content harvester, or vulnerability prober. Challenge or terminate session.
INCORRECT_DNS LOW Reverse DNS (PTR) hostname fails forward resolution back to the querying IP. Audit origin legitimacy.
REGISTRAR_COUNTRY_MISMATCH LOW Geolocation country differs from ASN registry allocation country. Correlate with billing address.
REGISTRAR_NAME_MISMATCH LOW Regional Internet Registry (RIR) diverges from continent registrar profile. Review network routing authenticity.
VPN_LIKELY_ORGANIZATION MEDIUM WHOIS network organisation string matches known VPN providers (e.g. Packethub). Apply standard VPN policy.
Zero-Code Deployment

Official ThreatPoint WordPress Plugin

Automate IP reputation protection on your WordPress or WooCommerce store without writing a single line of backend code.

WordPress Integration

Turnkey Defense in 3 Simple Steps

For WordPress websites, WooCommerce stores, and membership portals, we provide the official ThreatPoint WordPress Plugin. It integrates directly with the ThreatPoint IP Reputation API and enforces automated blocking rules at the application layer.

STEP 01
Install Plugin

In your WordPress Admin, go to Plugins > Add New and search for ThreatPoint IP Reputation, or upload the plugin zip file provided by your ThreatPoint account manager. Click Activate.

STEP 02
Configure API Key

Navigate to Settings > ThreatPoint Security. Enter your customer X-Api-Key in the license credentials field and click Validate License.

STEP 03
Set Defense Policies

Define automated thresholds: block logins or checkouts with risk scores exceeding 80, automatically reject Tor exit nodes, and configure local transient caching to optimize query volume.

Developer SDKs

Multi-Language REST Integration

Ready-to-deploy code samples for server-side middleware, backend services, and automated pipelines.

# Query ThreatPoint API with forward/reverse DNS and WHOIS validation
